Nice timely piece
This looks more fragile than it is. It is stable without a base. I had 7 of them etch engraved for a special recognition and they were very well received. Not accurate as an actual hourglass, however.

Reading is such an important skill
This is such an attractive & decorative conversation piece. However, not very practical in terms of being a timer. I rarely need to know when an hour is up and if I do one with an auditory alert is far more practical for me. But the label did say HOUR glass. My bad
