This works very well, almost always tears at the perforation. I personally prefer full size paper towels so am opinionated on these type of holders. This is the best holder for the half size towels that I have found and used. Collected as part of a promotion.

I was so glad to finally find one of these paper towel holders with the arm that prevents you from tearing off excess towels. Many times I have my hands full or greasy and can't use both hands to get 1 or 2 towels so this works better than my old holder that sometimes dispensed 2 or 3. Another annoying thing with my old towel holder is if I have my overhead kitchen fan on it blows several towels off the the holder and I have to keep rewinding them.
